We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the first phase of our groundbreaking project, conducted from January 10th to 12th, 2024, at the Campus Chiriqui of the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá
Funded by the National Secretariat for Science and Technology Secretaría Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación through the Educational Innovation Promotion Program, this project marks a milestone in sustainable education for industrial engineers. Its unique approach integrates modern teaching methods into an extracurricular environment, fostering decision-making simulation in agile business settings.
Through interdisciplinary collaboration, students from various campuses have worked in startup-like teams, competing for the best design and planning using HDPE plastic waste. This hands-on approach has allowed participants to delve deeply into concepts such as Industrial Design, Additive Manufacturing, Customer Requirements Analysis and Agile Project Management, focusing on sustainable production and circular economy.
We want to highlight the dedication and effort of all participants, especially the teams led by Dr. Carmen E. Castaño Reyes, Ricardo Caballero, M.Sc., and Mgter. Bolívar Bernal Mojica. We also extend our gratitude to Juan Carlos Noguera, M.A., from the Rochester Institute of Technology, whose expertise greatly enriched our project during this intensive workshop.
